Rad, Red Vegetable

This is a very rad vegetable.
Not only is it "one of the healthiest foods in the world," but it tastes great. Especially when cooked with bacon.
It is also easy to grow, and it grows year round in places like Colorado. It has that nice, dark green leaf color that absorbs enough sunlight to survive fairly cold conditions. I personally love the color of the red stalk and how it makes a meal so much more colorful. I just had some leftover pasta that I made with some of the red chard and over night the stalk color dyed the pasta an amazing fuchsia color. So pretty!

Lame: This Week

This has been a horribly lame week. First of all, Superbowl Sunday marked the end of the NFL season, which is always a bummer. I get so much knitting done while watching football. My Sundays from here until September are so blank.
On a personal note of Lame, some one stole my phone on Superbowl Sunday. Also, REALLY lame.
This week, in Denver has been really effing cold. Not quite as bad as the negative temps last week, (although a few days the wind chill brought us down to that level) but just so many days in a row of going outside into snot-freezing cold= supremely LAME. This kind of cold makes me feel trapped inside, which is most definitely, lame.
And lastly, I have to take a furlough day. Which is where the lameness of this week ends, because at least I get a three day weekend at the end of the lamest week ever. I intend to spend my Monday (which also happens to be Valentine's Day) with my best friend from fourth grade HURRAY!
Of course I will pay for my day off with a short paycheck next Friday, but that is a price I'm willing to pay to have an extra to celebrate the end of this week. Plus, it's supposed to be warm over said weekend which means possible motorcycle time which is, quite possibly, the RADDEST THING EVER.

Lame Smiley.

Pretty few things get me as riled up as people who think being a redneck is equal to be patriotic. Especially when I'm stuck, staring at this riduculous and bizarre image in traffic for twenty minutes.

When I went to find a picture of this for the blog, I discovered that besides being hideous and just really odd, it also costs sixty dollars. SIXTY. I guess I would prefer that the person who spent sixty bucks to show off their patriotic cartoon chin pubes than on something equally idiotic... like say sending a sixty dollar check to Sarah Palin.

If they are going to cater to that crowd, I think they should make equal efforts to accomodate others. Such as this...

Opinions on Belt Buckles.

It's true that belt buckles have become a hipster thing and that they are often picked for ironic value (I have a sweet NRA one myself) but there is a trend these days where irony is being confused with UGLY. And this is an example...

... of a LAME belt Buckle. The description on Etsy says it's "whimsical." I think the definition of that word might not be what I think it is.
This, on the other hand, is an example of a wonderfully RAD ironic belt buckle.

As is this...
The End.

Reefer Radness!

Farewell Milwaukee. Kickass band. I heart them.

Louisiana. I never really considered that this state would ever make a little place for itself in my heart but HELLS YEAH. So insanely rad. And I pretty much saw just about as much of it as you can in one week. I highly recommend Lafayette. And gator ranches.

You know what, gator ranches are just so darn cool, they get their very own entry. Gator Ranches are RAD.

Feta Cheese.

Jazzercise.

SPRINGTIME! Especially flowers. I like the kind that bloom on trees a whole lot, but the rest are cool, too.

Karaoke. Particularly, family-fun time at karaoke. I heart singing with my sister.

Salad spinners. Who knew spinning lettuce could be so very satisfying?

Guy sitting next to me left his music on the whole flight, even when they said all electronics should be off. Scary.

Car Frustration Lame

Ok, so the car got stolen about two months ago. A meth head took it. He got caught and actually got out of the car and ran away from the police. He got busted for auto theft, eluding arrest, and possession of a lot of meth. Plus he was stoned and drunk when he was caught. I actually know the detective on his case and it's possible that some of the DA's from my office were on his case, but I don't know for sure.
The guy ripped the license plate off the car so he would have a lower chance of getting caught (but he put one on that was a temp tag from a Lexus, he's a real winner). I had to get a temp tag in order to pick my car up from the impound after they caught him.
The temp tag expires today and since the title is from New Mexico I have to register as a new Colorado Driver, or something, but basically, I have to get emissions done.
Turns out, when the thief stopped the car to get out and run, he must have hit the curb pretty bad because the control arm is totally bent enough so that the car won't run properly on the machine that makes your tires move with out your car moving. So, I have to get that fixed. And get the emissions tested. and get the plate. GAHHHH.
Car thieves are lame.

Lame or Rad? You decide!

Can't really tell you which, but it is most definitely a failure pile in a saddness bowl.
And I just ate it. It has a pretty snazzy little flash presentation over on the Jack-in the-Box website http://www.jackinthebox.com/menu/product.php?prod_id=Breakfast

And I kind of enjoy this little blurb but I have to disagaree that it's too small. Nope, nothing this ugly should be any bigger than this.

Suburba-LAME

The suburbs are lame. I don't mind the little towns that kind of accidentally became suburbs as the city grew to meet them, but the places that didn't even exist before five years ago, the covenant protected, security-walled, cul-de sac infested 'burbs where fear and Republicans breed-- LAME.

Practical Rad

The UPS tracking site is rad. You can even make an account and save all the tracking numbers for the things being shipped. So handy. The OCD in me really likes knowing where my packages are each day.

Also rad, political action. Write or call your senators on a regular basis. They write back :) and every once in a while, your cause makes a difference. And then you feel very satisfied.

End of Year Rad

I've been slacking on my lame and rad updates. New Years resolution: be better about that.

RAD!
XM radio, as I have previously stated, is super rad. But I have to give a shout out to the radio I've been streaming at work lately, The Current. It's the Minnesota Public Radio music station and it pretty much rocks my world. Thank you MPR for streaming your RAD station so that I can sit at my cube and hear lovely tunes.

Sales at grocery stores are RAD. Especially buy one, get one free sales. My buddy, Megan, and I split the price of one roast the other day because we got one free. FREE ROAST. So rad. But this whole thing gave me an idea. What if you went to the store, bought everything that was "buy one, get one free" that you knew you would use, and then gave the free one to some soup kitchen or homeless shelter? That way you are still just buying the groceries you really need, and not spending any extra, but you can help out other people, which is pretty much the raddest thing of all. Just an idea...

This blog is rad.

That's pretty good for now.

kind of frightening and lame.

the cops have to do quarterly shoots. i'm not exactly sure that they need to score a certain accuracy in order to carry their guns, or what, but they have to do shoots at the range.
One of my cops did his shoot today and got 100% accuracy. This is not in itself scary, or lame, but...
This same detective keeps accidentally setting reminders on his cell phone and can't figure out how to turn them off. I hear the alarm go off and know that he's going to come to my desk to have me turn it off, because he doesn't know how.
