Rad, Red Vegetable

This is a very rad vegetable.
Not only is it "one of the healthiest foods in the world," but it tastes great. Especially when cooked with bacon.
It is also easy to grow, and it grows year round in places like Colorado. It has that nice, dark green leaf color that absorbs enough sunlight to survive fairly cold conditions. I personally love the color of the red stalk and how it makes a meal so much more colorful. I just had some leftover pasta that I made with some of the red chard and over night the stalk color dyed the pasta an amazing fuchsia color. So pretty!

Lame: This Week

This has been a horribly lame week. First of all, Superbowl Sunday marked the end of the NFL season, which is always a bummer. I get so much knitting done while watching football. My Sundays from here until September are so blank.
On a personal note of Lame, some one stole my phone on Superbowl Sunday. Also, REALLY lame.
This week, in Denver has been really effing cold. Not quite as bad as the negative temps last week, (although a few days the wind chill brought us down to that level) but just so many days in a row of going outside into snot-freezing cold= supremely LAME. This kind of cold makes me feel trapped inside, which is most definitely, lame.
And lastly, I have to take a furlough day. Which is where the lameness of this week ends, because at least I get a three day weekend at the end of the lamest week ever. I intend to spend my Monday (which also happens to be Valentine's Day) with my best friend from fourth grade HURRAY!
Of course I will pay for my day off with a short paycheck next Friday, but that is a price I'm willing to pay to have an extra to celebrate the end of this week. Plus, it's supposed to be warm over said weekend which means possible motorcycle time which is, quite possibly, the RADDEST THING EVER.

Pretty few things get me as riled up as people who think being a redneck is equal to be patriotic. Especially when I'm stuck, staring at this riduculous and bizarre image in traffic for twenty minutes.

When I went to find a picture of this for the blog, I discovered that besides being hideous and just really odd, it also costs sixty dollars. SIXTY. I guess I would prefer that the person who spent sixty bucks to show off their patriotic cartoon chin pubes than on something equally idiotic... like say sending a sixty dollar check to Sarah Palin.

If they are going to cater to that crowd, I think they should make equal efforts to accomodate others. Such as this...

Opinions on Belt Buckles.

It's true that belt buckles have become a hipster thing and that they are often picked for ironic value (I have a sweet NRA one myself) but there is a trend these days where irony is being confused with UGLY. And this is an example...

... of a LAME belt Buckle. The description on Etsy says it's "whimsical." I think the definition of that word might not be what I think it is.
